The Kempe Foundation is receiving pledges and donations from the 29th Annual Cherry Creek Sneak.  To date, Kempe has raised $33,000!

Lighting Ceremony

To kickoff Child Abuse Prevention Month, The Children’s Hospital in conjunction with Kempe lit the blue lights along Children’s Way on March 31.

Public Service Announcements
In addition to the news stories, KMGH 7 ran a series of 15 second public service announcements featuring the 2011 Kempe Superheroes. Click on the names to watch the PSAs.

Kempe also distributed the 30 second superhero public service announcement to all television stations in Denver and Colorado Springs. Click here to see the PSA.  Kempe sent the 60 second radio public service announcement to 135 stations throughout Colorado.

Blue ribbon on Gary PavilionIn honor of Child Abuse Prevention Month (CAPM), giant blue ribbons placed on buildings throughout the Denver Metro Area including the Capitol, City & County Building, Pepsi Center, The Children’s Hospital, Buckley Air Force Base and The Gary Pavilion.  

In addition, Kempe distributed hundreds of blue ribbon magnets, wristband keychains, blue ribbon pins, brochures, flyers, handouts and other information about the organization and CAPM.

Kempe Center Names New Director

Dr. Des Runyan
Des Runyan, MD, has been named the new director of The Kempe Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Child Abuse and Neglect. A professor of social medicine and pediatrics at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine, Runyan’s expertise in child abuse has been recognized nationally and internationally. Kempe Superhero - Carlos Gonzalez, Colorado Rockies Brian Dawkins

The Kempe Foundation featured five new Superheroes in public service announcements and on posters distributed throughout the community. The 2011 superheroes are: Carlos Gonzalez, Colorado Rockies; Brian Dawkins, Denver Broncos; Dr. Evie Dennis, Community Leader; Mary Lou Makepeace, Community Leader; and Patricia Barela Rivera, Community Leader.
