Child Abuse Prevention Month officially began last night, with the lighting of the blue lights along Children’s Way. The ceremony included a brief presentation in The Children’s Hospital atrium by Kelly Johnson, The Children’s Hospital chief nursing officer, and Andrew Sirotnak, MD, director, Kempe Child Protection Team. The event moved outside and a group of children with Dr. Sirotnak helped flip the switch and turn on the lights, which will be on display in front of the hospital throughout April.
This morning, The Kempe Foundation distributed 600 blueberry bagels to Kempe and The Children’s Hospital staff during its annual bagel giveaway to honor Child Abuse Prevention Month. Panera Bread donated the bagels and we are so thankful for their generosity!
The large blue ribbons are now on display at various locations around town. This year, the ribbons are on display at the Capitol, City & County Building, Pepsi Center, The Children’s Hospital, Buckley Air Force Base and The Gary Pavilion.
