Cherry Creek Sneak Names Kempe Foundation Race Beneficiary, Opens Registration

More than 10,000 runners and walkers will help support The Kempe Foundation for the Prevention and Treatment of Child Abuse and Neglect during the 28th Annual Cherry Creek Sneak on April 25, 2010.

The Sneak, which opened registration today, offers different levels of run/walk races including a 5-mile run/walk, 3.1-mile (5k) run/walk, 1-mile sprint, and ½ mile Kids’ Fun Run.  Sneak registration costs $35 for adults, $20 for youth ages 17 and under, $20 for seniors ages 60 and over, and $90 for a Family Four-Pack consisting of two adults and two children.  Participants may register at www.active.com/running/denver-co/cherry-creek-sneak-2010, at four Denver Metro Sports Authority locations, and at American National Bank located at First Avenue and Milwaukee Street in Cherry Creek North.

Participants can support The Kempe Foundation by making an incremental donation during registration or by raising pledges as part of a team or individually.  To pledge your support of Kempe, visit www.active.com/donate/kempe.

The first race will begin at 8 a.m. at the intersection of Steele and Ellsworth. The post-race block party takes place along First Avenue in the heart of Cherry Creek.  The event features sponsor and vendor booths, a live band, a beer garden, and inflatable slide and obstacle course, as well as a kids’ stage sponsored and staffed by Radio Disney.  Over 25,000 people are expected to attend, including race participants, friends, families and spectators.  For more information on the race, visit www.cherrycreeksneak.comClick here to become a Sneak fan on Facebook.

Kempe’s participation in the Sneak is part of the month-long “April Is Child Abuse Prevention Month” awareness campaign.  The campaign promotes the role that everyone can help play in keeping Colorado’s children safe.
